Tammy grew up in Southern California, and trained with some of the sport’s top names, including Bernie Traurig and Debbie McDonald. As a junior, she earned numerous championships in the Hunters, High Junior Jumpers, and Maclay Medals. In her final junior year, she was honored as one of the top ten junior riders in the country by the U.S. Olympic coach Bertalan De Nementhy.
At 18, Tammy turned professional, focusing on training and developing young horses for the show ring, successfully selling them to leading professionals such as Susie Hutchinson, Linda Hough, and Hap Hansen. In 2008, she rode with Frank Madden at WEF, then relocated to New England, where she spent four years as the professional rider for Holly Hill Farm.
In 2012, Tammy launched her own program, Talyn Equestrian, where she has successfully trained riders competing in Equitation Finals and the Child/Adult Jumper divisions. She also served as the head coach of the Northeastern University Equestrian Team for several years, leading the team through consistent development and competitive success, including qualifications for the IHSA National Finals. In addition to her work with riders, Tammy mentors emerging trainers, helping to guide and shape their professional careers within the equestrian industry.
Tammy’s teaching focuses mainly on helping riders with the technical aspect of riding, putting emphasis on finding the rider’s rhythm with their horse. Her expertise as a trainer, both in and out of the saddle, makes her an incredible member of the team!
